Launching two years ago with a highly resolved collection of design basics, the SP01 Design story has expanded with well-made pieces that are precisely detailed using natural materials as both structure and finish.
The first SP01 collection also designed by Metrica was designed as a range to be built upon. “Every piece had a very distinct character,” remarks Matt Lorrain, SP01's head of design and product development. "It gave us a lot of detail and a design language to work with.”
With the design of Yee the interior of each storage piece is just as important as the exterior, often rare for contemporary design. However not so surprising when you understand the roots of its craftsmanship that lie deep within the traditions of the Italian furniture industry.
Starting with a refined, steel framed wooden bench, the Yee collection is resolved with internal metal shelves and a flexibility that allows you to create your own composition. A refined standalone furniture piece with a slatted wood top made from ash timber and available in natural, carbon stained or grey lacquer, each bench is available in three lengths and supported by a metal stretcher frame in black, pewter or bordeaux.
The storage elements have flap doors (perfect for a drinks cabinet), cable management, and a signature rounded profile in three ash wood finishes, natural, carbon stained and grey lacquer, as well as satin lacquers including brick red, ochre yellow and steel blue. Suspended steel shelves increase the internal storage combinations and are available in all of the lacquer colours, creating a seamless transition between inside and out.
Yee is a carefully curated collection of highly detailed pieces that has earned Metrica its international reputation for contemporary furniture defined by industrial vision and handcrafted design. Led by Lucio Quinzio Leonelli and Robin Rizzini, the duo continue to embrace Italian tradition, talent and design skills in tune with contemporary life.
