Released for the Milan Furniture Fair this year, manufactured by Kartell and designed by Italian architect Fabio Novembre, the Lantern light is a fresh take on the traditional bedside lamp.

"Ever since my student days, I have been taught that we design, we do it with other people in mind, but this time I have failed: this lantern is for me", remarks Novembre. "A lantern, like those of olden times, simple, hardwearing and resilient. An object to accompany me in my wanderings."

Since Ferruccio Laviani and Philippe Starck began designing lights for Kartell in the early 2000s, the topology of lighting has become one of the Italian manufacturer’s most successful collections.

They have perfected the art of transporting the industrial nature of plastic and elevating it to the realm of the precious material. Still robust, yet light and shimmering and the perfect foil to the elusive play of light.

The Kartell Lantern light will be available from Space Furniture this year.
