It is a year of celebrations for Living Divani and Frog, one of the manufacturer’s most successful designs has just turned 20.

A small, dynamic, family-run furniture company, Living Divani explores traditions and natural materials – such as hide, leather, rope and wicker, woven or quilted with artisan skills and the traditions of the past, The Frog armchair designed by the group’s art director Piero Lissoni in 1995, expresses the collaboration Living Divani has with craftspeople within the Brianza region of Italy, drawing on skills translated with highly complex production processing techniques. In the case of Frog, this involves the handwoven open weave leather, hempen rope and PVC carefully stretched over a refined steel frame. One of Italy’s most well known designers, Piero Lissoni’s work criss-crosses architecture, furniture and graphic design, and his role as the leading creative for the group has shaped their immediately identifiable design language.

To celebrate Frog’s 20th birthday, Living Divani collaborated with Elle Decor Italia on the exhibition ‘Design for Life’, launched the book ‘Frog va in Scena’ and ran a competition with the Accademia Teatro Alla Scala that reinterpreted Frog in four scenic installations.
