The third series from the Dressed Collection by Marcel Wanders has been launched by Alessi. Following the iconic porcelain patterned plates in 2011, the versatile collection of pots and pans produced in 2012, 'Dressed for Breakfast' and 'Dressed in Wood' were released at Maison & Objet in Paris this month. True to the traditions of Alessi and the group's unwavering craftsmanship, quality and selection of materials are both fundamental to this new collection. Porcelain, stainless steel and wood are used elegantly and the natural beechwood is characterised by knots and veins that make every design unique. Described by Marcel Wanders as "carved with love", each piece is shaped with a wood-cut laser technique and finished by hand in Valle Strona, Italy, where the production of wooden artefacts is documented back to the 16th century.

The 'Dressed in Wood' range includes cheese board, rectangular trays, serving boards, a centerpiece bowl and a distinguished cake stand with glass cloche. While 'Dressed for Breakfast' features egg cups in white porcelain and thermoplastic resin in black, white, red and yellow. There is also a stainless steel egg spoon with hammer to crack the shell (in the vein of Wanders' tongue-in-cheek The Killing of the Piggy Bank vase for Moooi), and a range of  breakfast plates featuring his favourite lace motif. To launch the collection Alessi commissioned this cute film featuring Geppetto's famous puppet Pinocchio.
