Celebrating the life and work of Ray Eames, Ray Eames: in the spotlight promises to be an immersive show featuring a vast collection pulled from the archives – process drawings, films, letters, notes, sketches, paintings and photographs tracing the designer's interests and creative life. A rare opportunity to get inside Ray's world, the intimate study curated by Carlo Hartman concentrates on behind-the-scenes processes that the Eames office is famous for. What was internally described as the "way-it-should-be-ness", this legacy is proof of a life lived to its creative max. In the case of Ray, art and design were a carefully constructed painting of how she saw the world.

In the accompanying film, designers from the Eames office reflect on Ray's incredible energy and imagination that was an important ingredient in the Charles and Ray collaboration – as well as an engaging drawcard for clients from IBM to Vitra.

Ray Eames: in the spotlight opens on February 28 at the Alyce de Roulet Williamson Gallery, Art Centre College of Design, Hillside Campus, Pasadena, California. For more information go to the Art Centre College of Design.
