Congratulations to Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby who have received Maison & Object's Designer of the Year Award, following in the footsteps of Tokujin Yoshioka and Fernando and Humberto Campana. On the back of Barber Osgerby's successes in 2012: the much anticipated design of the olympic torch for the London Olympics, receiving Icon magazine's Design Studio of the Year Award, as well as a new collaboration with Louis Vuitton, 2013 has got off to a flying start. As well as receiving the nod from Maison & Object, Barber Osgerby has won a Wallpaper Design Award for their Tobi Ishi table for B&B Italia and a German Design Award for Tip Ton by Vitra, plus the commission to design the London Underground £2 coin to commemorate its 150th birthday.

Here, Edward and Jay talk about 'making money', the diversity of scale and production types they are now managing in their London studio, the narrative of story, the importance of inclusiveness and their work for Vitra and B&B Italia...
