Although quieter in visitor numbers, this year's Milan Furniture Fair was a loud and visceral feast taking designers, architects, buyers and the media on a journey of the past and future of design. We spoke with Casper Vissers, Founder and CEO of Dutch design group Moooi, about his highlights this year'. MS: Could you please describe the mood of the Milan Furniture Fair 2012 in one sentence?

CV: Quiet in terms of visitors, colourful in terms of presentations.

MS: Please describe the Moooi collection in one sentence.

CV: Moooi is about the dot in the i, a collection with the mission to make any environment more beautiful.

MS: What was one of the biggest highlights for you at this year’s launch?

CV: The Vitra presentation which was well styled and clearly presented.

MS: Were there any new technical processes and material experiments you worked with this year?

CV: Hand painted furniture is quite an experiment. This year we launched the Altdeutsche collection of storage pieces by Studio Job (pictured) that are each detailed with colourful hand finished artwork.
